One year after "The Outsider" I returned to Lovecraft as an inspiration, this time adapting his dark poetry collection called "Fungi from Yuggoth" (...and also a science fiction story which itself was a tribute to HPL, called "Discovery of the Ghooric Zone", by Richard A. Lupoff).
The result was a (probably) more cohesive mix of dark ambient and avantgarde electronica than "The Outsider" (yet again still not the "gothic" approach the "average" horror fan might expect...).

It is my 55th album, finished in March 2003 and basically "available" since then; (more "officially") released as part of my large self-distributed box set "No Single Single" in summer of 2007.

Except for the fact that I just created it, there is no special story to this album - these are the original "liner notes", which reflect thoughts and considerations which were stirred by a discussion about the politcal / social importance - or lack of it - of (dark) ambient music around that time (looking at the current state of affairs on this planet, some of these thoughts seem even more relevant to me today):

"The music on this album is dark ambient music.

It is also inspired by gothic sci/fi poems by Howard P. Lovecraft (”Fungi from Yuggoth”) and a novel by Richard A. Lupoff, which is itself inspired by the very same poems (”Discovery of the Ghooric Zone”).

So, obviously, this is no cheerful goodtime music, designed to make you feel good. On the other hand, it is not designed to make you feel bad, either.

The topic and motives of this music seems to be quite far off.
But, unfortunately, they are not.

Because they touch essential human feelings - fear, aggression, loneliness - with which we are confronted in various ways all of our lives. And we have to deal with them.

Usually, we prefer to take notice of our more positive feelings most of the time.

We like having a good time (Me too!).
Negative feelings are usually surpressed.

Until someone gives us a good justification to act them out.
Then we can have a good time by screaming, hurting, judging, punishing, taking revenge or leading a war.

Art, on the other hand, gives us a chance to take a look at and get in touch with our negativities and to learn to deal with them, so that we maybe don´t need to act them out.

I am not sure about if this music is art at all nor if it is able to have this very effect on anyone.

But that is what I designed it for."

It's also worth mentioning that the quite emotional femal vocals on "I Can See Millions Now" (which is probably the highlight of the album) are provided by singer Franziska Taube - but were not originally sung for this track, but for a track from the debut album of B4 SUNRISE (that had been finished around the same time). For "I See Millions Now" I have played the vocal recording backwards. The original melody was written by Reinhold Krämer.
