about

EROONIAN AVADY is my 25th album and was originally recorded between (late) 1997 and 1999 (most of it probably in late 1998). Actually, it consists of two initially seperate projects which remained hibernating on different back-up CD-rs until I decided to unite them when I put together "No Single Single" (a huge CD box, primarily for promotional reasons) during 2006.

While one of these two projects was "ordinary" electronic ambient, the other one is rather unusual (in the context of my work) because I did only use acoustic instruments (like grand piano, acoustic guitar, flutes, bells, glockenspiel, different little percussion instruments), household objects (like glasses, glass lids of pans, boxes, stones, paper) or my voice as sound sources - which I recorded in realtime and then processed with different chains of electronic effects into something more surreal.

Now, if that sounds like I'm a multi-instrumentalist: I'm not, that's why I say I used these things as sound sources - I can't play most of them properly (except maybe the piano to some degree) and rather toyed around and experimented with them. Which was great fun, and also yielded some nice and interesting results (OK - maybe also partly a bit random and naive - but I quite like it).

The reason why I thought the two projects might melt together rather well is that both of them resulted in music that had a certain character in common which was unlike most of my other music - it seemed to be a kind of ambient - not dark, but rather light, but still somewhat abstract.

Actually, always when I hear it I have pictures in my mind like a shore with a rather calm ocean behind is, with the sun shining over the scene on a bright but rather cold winter day. Everything seems to be remote, detached, yet in balance. There's something unhurried and probably not very spectactular about it, the music also seems rather personal to me like about small nice things we discover when we go through our day.
I'm not sure, but probably it will rather appeal to Eno fans...

I'd also like to point out one specific track, "Yas" - it's one of my earier attempts to use an alternative tuning, a scale based on the harmonic series.

As stated elsewhere, this album is the free Christmas giveaway for 2016 and also will remain a free download for some more time; later it will be offered at my standard album price...

ENJOY!
