FIRST HALF OF THE MOON (2004 / 2007)

Well - here it is, finally! I waited a long time to see this music publically released.
Ever since I started working on the album's main long track, "The Silent Lie" I felt I was up to something special - even if I have to admit (listening to the result once again after a long time right now) I'm not sure if the result meets my own expectations...

In any case it's still true that "The Silent Lie" is the ONE piece of music which I worked on for the longest time in my whole "career", changing, expanding and remixing the track many times over and over (and over!) again for many, many months, a whole chain of versions evolving one from the other.

Originally conceived in 2004 and keeping me busy off and on through the bigger part of that year, I revisted the composition again in 2007 when I included it in my promotional CD box "No Single Single", on that occasion again re-modeling some bits before giving it all the mastering I could achieve at that point.

And even if I stopped to actually work on the composition since then, there were periods when I scribbled down new ideas what to change or enhance in future versions (which however - so far - I didn't do...).

So, at least in the little world of my own mind, this track always had been a BIG project, starting out as a hypnotic, extended techno / trance session (more or less exemplified in the bonus track, which, as far as I remember, was the fifth step in the evolution of the track) but getting expanded by more and more elements which - perhaps - turned it into something more "progressive" and musical complex (even if the emphasis still is on the rhythm side of things...).

At some point also my old friend Wolle Bechtluft entered the picture, then being guitar player of the artrock trio B4 SUNRISE which we both were members of. He added some weird guitar noises (most of which probably even don't quite seem like coming from a guitar at all) and also his voice (on the edge of bursting into laughter!).

Much bigger though (and more obvious!) is his contribution to the second track of the album - a krautrock / electronica exercise during the creation of which I asked him to "do the Göttsching" - and he did! :-D
