about

Le Jardin Oublié (The Forgotten Garden)

At some point in 2010 or 2011, I started three differnet projects which, at the time, were not completed - an ambient EP with the working title "Clouds", music designed for a series of animated YouTube videos, and a contemporary electronic pop album. All of these contained some tracks which I was fond of (and others that I didn't feel so confident about). The one that came closest to being finished was the EP.

In late 2012 or early 2013 I came into contact with fellow ambient artist and net label owner Oliver Dombi, who offered me a release on his label Ancient Language Records. To use this opportunity, I revisited the material of those three unfinished projects, and it turned out that a combination of most of "Clouds" with some selected tracks from the other two went well together.

I added the intro from my (at that time still unreleased) "wedding concert" (now available as FREE DOWNLAOD as "If I Have Not Love") as opening track (see also here: michaelbrueckner.bandcamp.com/album/if-i-have-not-love-the-wedding-concert) and recorded a new, long ambient piece as the closing track.

The result was a mostly introspective and soothing album which to me sounded rather contemporary. Over all, it has a dreamy atmosphere and evoked the feeling of beautiful summer days - actually, I'm really quite fond of it.

Although the album is present on quite a few places in the net like Spotify, iTunes (even Amazon, which I'm not happy about). I never heard back from Oliver and also never received any feedback from listeners. I think it passed more or less unnoticed, so after more than seven years, I felt it was about time to add it to my own Bandcamp page finally and make it available to those listeners who follow me more closely.
