about

The entry for Melodika in my "nearly complete catalogue" is brief:

19. MELODIKA
1997 to 1998: A collection of tracks in a similar mood like on "One ma Topo"

Let's have a look then how that applies in this case:

My [second] hard disc recording project; a big progress in terms of recording technique, yet a step back artistically, for I gave the my "Oldfield/Vollenweider" leanings a last chance, before finally taking an [overtly] electronic direction; so, here You find [another collection of] rather innocent New Age/World Music inventions, and even some steps into...

...several other genres, actually.

While most of the music probably doesn't belong to the best I ever did (for which reason I share the download basically for free) I'd like to highlight the opener, "Wedding Day":

It approximates an accoustic guitar duo (vaguely in the style of Sigi Schwab*, who I adore) which I - as clearly audible - had put together using the help of rather not-so high quality samples. Now, the "cheap sample factor" might disqualify it in the ears of many listeners, however I think apart from that, the thing works well as a composition, and I always wanted to hear *real* guitarists play the piece. Maybe one day it will happen!

Michael Brückner, August 2017

P.S. …the album actually contains a contribution by a *real* guitarplayer, after all - the bonus track „Wolle’s Shmues“, by fellow B4 SUNRISE member Wolfgang Bechtluft, recorded some day in 2001…

* Sigi Schwab is a German guitarist and composer, from the city of Ludwigshafen, which is (more or less) in the area where I grew up - and I actually learnad just now that at one point he was a member of the legendary German band "Embryo"
