about

THE FAR SHORE contains a collection of early electronica tracks which I had recorded in 1994 and 1995. Still on 4-track tape, actually.

The "center piece" is the title track, an electronic "suite" which I consider to be a turning point:
While it's true that even before that, I had recorded a couple of decidedly "electronic" sounding tracks, my goal until then had been to somehow manage and produce "acoustic" sounding music by means of electronic equipment. Or rock music, etc. - whatever...

Whether it was only a question of my (very humble) equipment or rather my poor musical and producer skills, I never felt that my attempts had been as succesful as I wished for - but with "The Far Shore" (the track), for the first time I realized that electronic music which did NOT attempt to be anything else came across much more convincingly...

The experience indeed was an eye opener to me, and I considered for the first time to "go completely electronic" (I did relapse though on a few occasions to the earlier, "acoustic", desire on different points in my musical journey - still overall, this was the point where I changed roads...).

And the nice thing is, listening to it again after so many years, I still think it's an attractive album and has aged quite well. In fact, I even think I did a few things better back then than I do today, and my younger self had still a lot more drive and creativity...

P.S. One word about the cover: for whatever reason, the original cover was one of my poorer efforts on this field (it comes with the download, if You're curious). This is something I rarely do, if ever, but on occasion of the re-release, I decided to create a new one. I think it suits the music much better...
