about

Even though "Gokuro" is my 50th album (something to celebrate, you might think) and I always had been rather fond of it, it's entry in my "nearly complete catalogue" is rather brief:

50. GOKURO
2002 to 2003: For some reason I felt this album had something "japanese" to it (though I can't really tell You what exactly...). It's a mix of longer electronicals, laid-back, almost jazzy tunes and a few weird experimental jams which (IMHO works surprisingly well.

Also worth mentioning are the contributions on "Hoellgerson" by fellow B4 SUNRISE members Wolfgang Bechtluft on guitar and Reinhold Krämer on a "physical modeling" synthesized emulation of a jazz trumpt (which I always thought was cool the way he played it) - which I referred to on the cover as "fake petter", which is a tongue-in-cheek nod to Scandinavian trumpet player Nils Petter Molvaer, who we all adored back then (and in fact: ever since).

On many tracks I also used some innovative music software that could render any sound input into (mostly) meaningful music, often (but not only) with a vocal character. It was a demo version, and was limited to two weeks of free use (and use it I did!). Unfortunately, the name of this software and also the company slipped from my mind in the meantime; as far as I know, the concept - also brilliant in my opinion - wasn't a big success with users, and I think wasn't developed or maintained further...
